Cleaner Slate LLC has a rapid and inexpensive method for evaluating the permeability of vacuum insulation panel (VIP) envelopes. The usual turnaround time is approximately 3-5 business days. Current testing methods of the permeation do not take into account that the VIP envelope is under considerable stress at the edges, corners, and seals in a VIP. Measurements from a film under “High stress” and “No stress” are shown below.

We developed additional tests that can measure the impact of stress or exposure to different ambients on the permeability, as well as the integrated permeability through an entire VIP envelope(including corners and seams). We also assist companies looking for better approaches to existing problems. Dr. Feinerman is currently prototyping a new method to make lightweight and transportable vacuum enclosures of arbitrary size.
